12 Jun - Test of i5-10400 & GTX 1660 Super

Updated: Apr 26, 2021

This week, we assembled and tested the new i5-10400 combined with a GTX 1660 Super for one of our clients. It was the perfect occasion to check its performances, as well as confirmed physically the compatibility with The First.

Configuration:

Case: The First (opened - as we always proceed with configurations ordered by our clients, this to reduce the possibility to scratch the skins with multiples disassembles).

Motherboard: ASRock Z490m-itx – LGA1200

Processor: i5-10400

Craphic Card: Zotac GTX 1660 Super

Storage: SSD Western Digital Blue 500Go

Power Supply: Seasonic SGX 650

Fan: Noctua 140mm NF-A14-PWM

Our first impressions is that the ASRock reference is perfect for The First, easy to install, as well as the drivers. Also, temperatures of the i5-10400 on IDLE are very fine.

Bench:

Cinebench R20

3110 points

Test Geekbench

  • CPU Benchmark

single 1158 - Multi 5991 points

  • Compute Benchmark

OpenCL score 60016

Benchmark AIDA 64 CPU + GPU Montitoring Hwinfo 64

Ambient temperature 19.5°C

Opened Case

Benchmark maximum

Tmax CPU = 71°C

Pmax CPU = 59W

Tmax PCH = 46°C

Tmax GPU = 51°C

Pmax GPU = 93°C

Fan max RPM = 820

3DMark

Conclusion:

We are very impressed by the performances of this 6 cores - 12 threads. The power consumption remains quite low with an interesting balance between performance, temperatures and power consumption. This type of combination will be clearly proposed in our next configurations.
