The First
In this list, you will find graphic cards with a TPD lower than 200W. For cards with higher TDP that will need to be downclock into The First, have a look at our "Compatible List" with The Beast or download the document below. This document lists all the compatible cards, including those from previous generations.
In the list below is now detailed:
-
RISER: depending on its architecture, your card might need a riser (available here)
-
TAPED HEATSINKS KIT ("HS kit"): depending on its TDP, your card might need a kit of heatsinks for VRMs and memories (available here)
-
VRM COOLING MACHINED: depending on its TDP, your card might need our VRM cooling machined
-
VRM COOLING MACHINED COMPATIBILITY ("VRM HS"): depending on its architecture, your card might need a Large VRM cooling machined, a Small VRM cooling machined or both of them (available here)
Have a look at our full list of compatible graphic cards here!
Can’t you find a specific reference? That means we didn’t test it yet. Please leave us an email at info@monsterlabo.com and we will check your card quickly.
For more information about electronic mounting, please refer to our assembly guide.

What do I get when buying The First? The First package features the case with its integrated passive and dual cooling solution, aesthetical skins (standard colours), front & back panels, metallic mesh for the top of the case, mounting kits, thermal grease, HDD anti-vibrations washes and tools. White First come with a white cooling. Black & Anodised First come with a black cooling. Apwal is the same product than The First with same accessories and without aesthetic skins.
-
What is the weight of The First? The First weights 7 kilograms (± 250 oz or ± 15 lbs).
-
What is the dimensions of The First? The First has the following dimensions: 215 mm (length), 205 mm (depth) and 430 mm (height) for a total volume of 19 litres.
-
Does it really make no noise? For configurations up to i5 8500k and GTX 1080/RTX 2070, The First is cooled passively without any fan. For higher configurations, The First is cooled silently with a low speed 120 mm or 140 mm fan installed inside the chassis. In this case, the fan is only activated during short period of time in the event of intense computing (benchmark, software calculation, AAA Games, etc.). From an electronics perspective, some electronics components may intrinsically produce “coil whine”. This electrical noise is independent of the cooling solution and can be avoided by selecting premium brands.
-
Can I choose the colour of my First?Special colours can be asked at info@monsterlabo.com
-
How can I assemble my First alone? The First is a 100% dismountable case. Tutorial videos are available on our Youtube Channel to help you with the assembly of your components into the case, as well as an assembly guide.
-
How can you provide right fixtures for my components? When an order is placed, each client receive an automatic email confirming the order and asking which motherboard and graphic card they plan to mount into their First. By answering this email, the team will be able to add the right fixtures into the package. Each fixture will be also available for free online for next upgrades of components [Update 23/04/19]
-
I don't want to assemble The First myself, what can I do?"Partners and/or MonsterLabo can assemble The First for you. Feel free to have a look here and see if your country is covered by one of our partners. If not, feel free to contact us and we will discuss about your needs.
-
Is The Beast compatible with my motherboard? The Beast is compatible mini-ITX > ATX. We didn’t notice any issue with specific motherboards so far. The compatibility list is updated regularly.
-
Is The Beast compatible with my graphics card? The Beast is compatible with most of the graphics cards up to 290 mm PCB length. Have a look at our compatible list. This section is updated regularly.
-
My graphics card is longer than 290mm, why is it compatible?"A graphics card is composed of a PCB with a housing (heatsink and fan) mounted onto it. The assembled graphics card can be longer than the PCB itself. The effective length to take in consideration for The Beast is the PCB length. This explain why some graphics cards are compatible although being longer than 290 mm, housing included.
-
Is there any warranty problem to remove my graphic card heatsink and fan (HSF)?To mount the graphic card onto The Beast heatsink, you will have to remove the HSF (heatsink and fan). This step is mandatory to have a passive computer. Each graphic card manufacturer has its own warranty policy regarding the disassembly of the HSF. Please refer to your card specification. Disassembling a card is a quite mainstream process in all high-end cooling solutions, liquid cooling being the most common example.
-
What about cards not compatible with a full covering spreader? The full covering spreaders was designed for cards with a TDP higher than 220W. For the other cards, a machined heatsink for the VRMs and heatsinks for memories are enough to keep the board cooled. We also designed a special solution for some boards (RTX 3070 mainly) made of a spreader for memories, combined with a machined heatsink for VRMs.
-
How my motherboard will be secured into The Beast?ATX motherboard do not get their weight allocated equally. That means a loud part of the board can not be connected to the cooler block. To avoid any issue, special brackets are designed to fix the motherboard to the structure. Formats smaller than ATX are not concerned by this potential issue.
-
What about cards not listed on your website? Many references have been added into our “compatibility” section but not all of them at listed. For graphics cards, most of the time this is due to the lack of pictures available online. Feel free to contact us if you need us to check a specific reference.
-
Is The Beast compatible with my power supply? The First is compatible with SFX, SFX-L and ATX full length power supplies.
-
How many storage drives can I install into The Beast? The Beast allows the mounting of 4 HDDs 3.5’’ or 8 SSDs 2.5’’. Please note we do not recommend the installation of HDDs that can be very loud, especially into a fanless case (=0dB).
-
Is The Beast compatible with 200mm fans? The Beast is not compatible with 200mm fans for now. A solution is currently studying to allow the mounting of 200mm fans at the bottom of the case.
-
Is The Beast compatible with PCI card? The Beast is compatible with PCI card. With mini-ITX motherboard, it can be connected directly onto the board. With other formats, you can use one of the two back panel slots with a dedicated 3D printing part, or you can use the HDDs slots that are compatible but will require the using of a riser.
-
Do you offer warranty or support? We offer a 2-years guarantee in the European Union, 1-year elsewhere for the mechanical and cooling parts.
-
What is the maximum TDP?Power max CPU: 300W Power max GPU: 320W
-
What is the recommended configuration? In full fanless mode: CPU: 150W GPU: 250W In silent mode (2x 140mm at 500RPM): CPU: 250W GPU: 320W
-
What are the solutions to optimize cable management?Cables management is a critical aspect for 2 main reasons: (1) it has an impact on the interior aestheticism of the case and most important, (2) it can impede air flow and reduce passive cooling efficiency if not properly done. Although cables management of The Beast can be done quite easily with standards length cables, we will propose custom cables options with specialized partners. Additional cables are already included with The Beast. Their length optimizes the cable management and air flow into The Beast. We also designed special parts for cable routing available at the bottom of the case.
-
When do I get my Beast? The Beast will be available for delivery in March 2022. Configurations will be available starting December 2021.
